Shipley Nature Center

Looking to do something this weekend that's free and outside? We headed to Shipley Nature Center in Huntington Beach and spent the morning in nature. It's a great place for the kids to explore the wilderness!

The nature center reflects what California looked like 100 years ago! Coastal Redwoods, over 50 California native plants, meadows and much more.

Highlights:
🌲Greeted by friendly staff who provided a fun kid-friendly scavenger hunt 👍
🌲Self guided trails with 16 destinations (marker 7 to marker 10 is temporarily closed due to flooding in pond)
🌲Squirrels, rabbits, butterfly & birds can be seen along the trail
🌲Trails are quiet, lot of trees that shade part of the loop hike
🌲Quaint seating areas for water breaks or just to relax for a few minutes
🌲A beautiful nature center to walk around with the family or friend

Open:
Friday 9am - 1pm
Saturday 9am - 1pm

Tips:
$3 donations are welcome
Restrooms available on-site
Free parking
Water bottles are permitted
Snacks are not allowed however HB Central Park is in walking distance (there's a large grass area to sit and have a snack)
