Snack Bites with Fit First Family

We had the pleasure of meeting Adam founder of Fit First Youth OC.  He had a few minutes to answer our snack bites.

What inspired you to start your business?

The business was really born out of a need for it. I have been an elementary school teacher for almost a decade, and throughout my time as a teacher, I have seen gym and p.e classes become less and less involved, as recesses deteriorated into 10-20 minutes of kids playing on their phones.

I, myself, struggled with my weight when I was younger. Fortunately, I turned to sports and became a competitive boxer and baseball player, and used the practices for these sports as an opportunity to train and get in shape. Later, I started using exercise independently to help make me even more competitive in my sports, and was eventually able to make it to the level of a college baseball player and golden gloves boxer. I did not know it at the time, but as I continued to exercise without proper instruction, I was doing more harm than good, and eventually suffered an injury that ruined my sports careers.

With little to no youth fitness options, more and more children have been suffering from weight gain and sedentary lifestyles, which leads to depression and anxiety. On the other hand, the children who are committed to high intensity sports, are most likely causing harm to their bodies from improper form and mechanics. I personally went through both of these situations when I was younger, and wished there was a fun fitness option for kids, that could have helped me get in shape, and teach me the correct form and mechanics when I was young, to help prevent me from getting injured when I was older. Fit First was created because there is a true need for it. We are dedicated to helping all children live healthier active lifestyles

What is something special unique about Fit First Youth OC?

I think our whole business is pretty special. There’s nothing else really like our business, and we’re hoping to pioneer the space. Not only do we offer youth fitness classes, but youth yoga classes, sports training classes as well, and are hoping to bring a parent-child workout class soon. Another thing that separates us is our dedication to our clients. We truly care about making our clients lives better and healthier, and even offer free spots in our summer boot camps.

What is your favorite snack?

My guilty pleasure is definitely Reese’s peanut butter cups. I also make a killer smoothie that is a favorite snack among our co-founder Vivian and our clients. On the savory side, I love to experiment with different protein chips. Currently the favorite is sea salt & vinegar protein chips from Nutriwise.

Tell us one of your hidden talents…

I am a secret pet whisperer! Whenever I meet a client’s dog or cats, we become good friends immediately no matter how shy they are, just like how I am with kids as well.
